It’s really good fun. I signed up mainly to meet other photographers in Oxford and to exchange tips, but I also enjoy the competitive element (maybe I shouldn’t admit that!).
I love meeting people who share a common interest. I’ve been going on photo walks since 2009, and Oxford Photo Walk has been by far the most interesting one. I’ve met some really nice and interesting people, and shared a lot of photos.
This was my first walk but it was very much enjoyable. It was a nice very casual event. I definitely intend to attend more of them.
It’s a friendly group of people with a lot of knowledge, from who you can learn. You feel welcome and I particularly enjoy the “afterwards gatherings”, usually in a local pub, around good food and drinks. It’s relaxed and friendly and there’s no expectation to be any sort of pro or have a wealth of knowledge. There is such a range of experience and camera equipment around that anyone can feel welcome and part of a group of people who just share a common interest.
I love it. It makes me feel that I’m not alone, and I can talk about photography with people who actually understand what I’m talking about.
